I miss Hybrid PT in its lower light conditions/shadows. Was still editing specular here too so the blue was popping out more.
Tried switching to ASVGF for the most part too while I try to figure out how to make it work
If there is one thing I loathe about ASVGF’s RT Reflection setting, it is specular. Have you seen that specular?
What the helly is that blue shine???? It sucks because I really do like the shine that RT Reflections offers, but the way it affects the color palette bothers me immensely.
On someone’s comment in the Dragon’s Dogma Discord, I decided to take a gander and look at this shit again. Bless Arnborn isolating the relevant settings in Graphics Suite Lite, as I didn’t know how to change it in the original mod.
Things I figured out:
Obvious, but GI/Reflection History affect noise. Reflection History set to 0 removes the reflection outline but has a lot of noise. Even at just 2, that reflection outline will pop up.
Diffuse Ray Length affects the strength of shadows/dark areas. Lower values blend specular better, but reduce shadows/dark areas to the point where you can see inside caves.
Reflection Ray Length affects the specular shine the most. Higher values reduce that shine, but emphasize shadows. For reducing the effect on characters, recommend Character Spotlight at least at a smaller value.
Ultimately I ended up with turning down Diffuse Ray Length some and turning up Reflection Ray Length. The GI and Reflection Hx I could turn down some because I can live with noise. Nevertheless, I tried comparing ASVGF and Hybrid PT again, and even tried matching ASVGF’s reflections a bit against Hybrid PT.
I definitely like doing Hybrid PT with ASVGF GI only because it seems to preserve the color the most when combined together. The reflections just like… do things to the colors. And just look strange. Might need more adjustment,,,
So I bricked my X250 I might start using as a dedicated typing machine lol
but I think it’s fixed, smh my head
I am itching to get new batteries for this and the X230T. But also the keyboard on this X250 seems too gummy or at least a bit gummy in a few keys. Maybe I’m still getting used to it, I still enjoy typing on it and it’s fun feeling my fingers dance around the keyboard.
Man, I wish I could use the mechanical keyboard with the other desktop computer I have, because it’d be so much better. But also privacy, and the wrist pain because of the angle and needing a wrist rest for my poor tiny thin wrists sigh
I wonder if the keyboard can be improved from what it currently is at the moment….
So I’m just going to preface this with: what a fucking struggle that was?? It’s great because HDR was working perfectly fine but I GUESS NOT??? Fam freaked out over HDR and I panicked because I thought the GPU was finally giving up the ghost or that the TV was giving up instead
turns out it could have been the cables as I switched cables and then plugged my pc directly into the TV instead of going through the AVR. then it really may have been a TV problem because it lost ethernet connection at the same time, like the port was just dead. and the poor thing was just like, struggling to work but no graphics glitches that fam and I noticed which made me worry about the state of the GPU
but it might be a pc problem because even iGPU had some weird hiccups??? but it was worst when I tried to do HDR on my GPU,,, had to rollback drivers out of panic, then saw on reddit there was something about deleting old color profiles and it seemed to work LOL and I realized I never set an SDR profile only an HDR one…. at the same time I decided to stream to my phone so if the stream glitched out while switching to HDR it’d be the GPU for sure.
nah man now it works. baby works. it’s okay though, I ended up swapping my PSU for one that can actually handle the load lmaooooooooooo. poor baby. and the CPU and GPU were burning anyway because the dust filter was saturated. and I decided to replace the thermal paste anyway. so lol. what a time. baby works. my UPS hasn’t gone off the rails because somehow my max total usage + TV +AVR is ~850W. that was a fun monday afternoon lol. just not being able to do things. cursed pcs. i hate pcs
